January Fitness Challenge: Plank Day 1

Happy New Year, and welcome to the January fitness challenge. This year I plan to have a monthly fitness challenge that will work on improving different strengths through the month. This month I am doing a Plank Challenge, which uses the Plank app by OcuNecu. It’s free, has good reviews, and is available on the iTunes store. I am not affiliated with the app in any way. I just found it to be a very useful app for this challenge. You start with a 20 second plank on Day 1, and work your way up to a 5 minute plank on Day 30. I’ll post regular videos of my progress throughout the month. Please, join me for this fitness challenge. I’d love to hear about your progress.

The Mighty Go Video Channel

I’m working on getting the Mighty Go youtube channel started. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to keep this project going. I put together a quick welcome video last night. It needs a bit more work, and some music. Once, I have 30 videos up and/or 100 subscribers I can get a dedicated domain. I have a bit of incentive post more videos.

Hello 2016

2015 was a fairly decent year. I accomplished or am in process of completing most of my goals. I think it’s best to actually write down your goals to keep them fresh in the mind, but also to have something to cross off. Here are my goals for 2016:

1. Run a Half Marathon ( 1st in March)

2. Run A Marathon (December)

3. Go back to Japan for JLPT

4. Complete TEFL certification

5. Write 12 stories/Ebooks

6. Complete Master Trainer Program

7. Look into graduate school.
This is what I have on my list for now. I might add as the year goes on. What are your goals?

The Jingle Bell Beach Run 2015 – Kona, Hawaii

The Jingle Bell Beach Run in Kona was a great run. I wasn’t feeling tip top, as I’ve been a bit sick for the last week or so. I ended up staying up the most of the night before thanks to Christmas party.

This race was one of the larger 5Ks for Kona, but everyone was full of holiday cheer. This was the first time that I’ve made time to run this race. Typically, I’m always working.

These people were nice enough to let me practice my nihongo skills. I don’t get to practice speaking as often as I like. It’s fun when people are willing to put up with my baby attempt to speak Japanese.

My time. This wasn’t a PR, but I think it’s one of my faster races this year. I was in a bit of pain starting at mile 2, and try my best to keep a 10:40 pace. I had to try meditating on the second half of the race. The easiest thing to do was practice katas in my head. My music wasn’t working this time. I tried to just smile and enjoy all the festivities, but sadly I wasn’t feeling too well.

Mustache Dache Virtual Race 2015

I participated in the Mustache Dache Virtual 5K today. I ran today, but I’ll also be walking it with my neighbor in the morning. I got her to sign up, but there’s no way that I could get her to run. There was strong head wind for most of the run, which might account for my slower than usual time. Also, I got a side stitch around the 2.4 mile mark. It was fun to get back to running. I’ve been a little lacks lately, as I’ve been recovering from a sickness over the last few weeks.
